This is book 2 in the Navy Seal series. I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. The story is fantastic! As I knew it would be. The story is filled with just the right amount of angst and tension, jealously and alpha dominance.Dylan isn’t sure of his feelings for Blake now that Blake has been gone on assignment. Blake knows the relationship will work, Dylan just needs to get over his insecurities. Dylan is sent on mandatory leave when he can’t get his feelings under control. The leave comes at the same time as his cousin’s wedding in his home town.
Dylan’s ex-boyfriend Ben, who happens to be his current boyfriend Blake’s older brother is marrying Dylan’s cousin Alex. No one in the family told Dylan because they were afraid of his reaction. When Dylan and Ben see each other again after many years of separation, it’s evident they are both in shock.
Dylan is curious to know if his old feelings for Ben are still there. As Dylan and Ben share a kiss after years of being apart, Dylan becomes aware it’s nothing like Blake’s. When he kisses Blake there is a total body connection. He knew he was desired when Blake was kissing him. When Ben kisses him it is about eagerness and domination. When Dylan realizes the mistake he’s made he has an overwhelming need to find Blake. He must confess to what has happened before Ben can distort the truth.
Dylan also has a secret he’s keeping from Blake. A secret that is terrifying him. Something that is bringing all his insecurities back into the picture. If he tells Blake will he be angry? Will he be happy? Will Blake want Dylan to leave the SEALS? Will Dylan have to join the Shadow Pack?
Although it would be wonderful to read another story about this loving duo, I have to say, I like that I can use my imagination to know where their future may lie. But I won’t deny there are too many questions left unanswered. So Mr. Harris where will you take us next? Will it be another story about Dylan and Blake? Or will you add some new characters to the series just to keep us guessing? Wherever you take it is sure to be an excellent adventure. I can’t wait to tag along for the ride.

I'm doing a little catching up on Noah Harris, and I'm really liking his voice and writing style. This story starts off a few weeks after book 1 ends. Dylan is feeling off and a little abandoned, questioning whether Blake is the real deal or not. His head's not in the game, the brass notices, and makes him take a mandatory 'time out' to get his head together. So he decides to go home for his cousin's wedding, after a decade of being away, only to get a bit of shocking news. Add to this, Blake ends up coming home for the same wedding. Dylan struggles to find what's real and what's nostalgia, and he tries to come to terms with his growing feelings for Blake.
I absolutely love Blake. He's my favorite kind of brilliant, playful, and sexy MC who is confident enough to let his kindness and compassion shine through. His only real vulnerability is Dylan and the strength of his feelings for him, which have evolved from a childhood infatuation to a very real mature love. Blake's in for the long game as far as Dylan is concerned and patiently waits for Dylan to come to the same conclusion. The scene when he takes Dylan to his secret childhood hideout is utterly sweet and perfect. Dylan is no chopped liver, but Team Blake is where I squarely sit. I can't wait to see how they handle their next Adventure together.
I've found all of NH's stories so far to have a certain playfulness and humor that I really enjoy, regardless of how gritty the book may be. He has a knack for writing characters who are a bit imperfect and imminently like-able. They're never two-note wonders who fizzle after the first few chapters.
I have some NH backlist catching up to do and I'm really looking forward to it.
Read this book after you've read book 1. That one is good, too.

This is the continuation of Sailing Deep. The MCs are both military, one a Navy SEAL. Their relationship has developed while undercover as pretend mates. Now they are thrust together back in the small town where they grew up.
There is action, but the development of the relationship is the focus of the story. Blake has been infatuated / in love with Dylan since he was a teen, and Dylan was his older brother Ben's boyfriend.
Now, ten years later, both end up at "home" for Ben's marriage to Alex, Dylan's cousin!
What follows in lures the "pack" relationships and interactions. Many times the dynamics are heavy on simply substituting "omega" for "feminine/woman" and "alpha" for "male."
Nevertheless, I was drawn into this world of werewolves families and (erotic) romance. The author tells a cogent, absorbing tale, and I wanted to learn more about these men throughout the novel. The characters are consistent and well developed. Both are likable and interesting men, even if they can change into wolves at will.
The book could do with one more good edit, but most errors are pretty minor, with one glaring mistake with a name. Actually, the most irritating part of the story came after the lovers began penetrative sex in the woods and later, but there was no opportunity/no mention of lubricants!
River water is not lube. Really, Noah!
I thoroughly enjoyed this installment of a HEA gay shifter MPreg romance. I hope the series designation means more will follow. Much of the necessary background was mentioned, but the story would be much better if vol 1, Sailing Deep, is read first.
